सरला अब उस बात का आनंद ले रही थी और कहा ‘तू ख़ुद ही देख लेना जब तू शनिवार को आदि बाबा के जनमदिन में आएगा “ |
“हाँ, शनिवार को है उसका बर्थ्डे, बताय था आदि ने मुझे २ हफ़्ते पहले फूटबाल ग्राउंड में जहाँ उनके दोस्त मेरे दोस्त के साथ खेलते है “, बंटी ने गर्व भारी आवाज़ में कहा।
बंटी पूरे हफ़्ते सोचता रहा ऐसा कौनसा ख़ुशबू चोर है जो ना पाव भाजी, गुलाब जामुन, पास्ता, पिज़्ज़ा और इतने सारे नाश्ते की ख़ुशबू को बड़े आसानी से चुरा लेता है सबकी आँखों से बच कर।
जैसे ही शनिवार आया उसने आदि की पसंद के पेन को एक नयी किताब के साथ बखूबी सजा दिया उपहार के रूप में।
सरला तो दोपहर से ही तैयारी करवाने चली गयी थी और बंटी अपने २-३ दोस्तों के साथ आदि के घर पहुँचा जो की एक आलीशान सॉसाययटी में था, वो पहले भी कई बार वहाँ के पार्क में आदि के बुलाने पर खेलने के लिए आया करता था । वहाँ के कर्मचारी भी उसे पहचानते थे, आख़िर सरला को काम करते हुए ४ साल हो चुके थे।
घर में ज़ोरों से गाने की आवाज़ आ रही थी और जैसे ही घर का दरवाज़ा खुला, गानों का स्तर और ऊँचा हो गया। आदि बंटी और उसके दोस्तों को देख कर बहुत खुश हुआ, गले लगाय और कहा, "आओ तुम्हें मिलवाता हूँ अपने और दोस्तों से"। सरला ने बंटी को देखा और मुस्कुरतें हुई किचन की ओर बढ़ी, उसे पता था बंटी सबके साथ अच्छे से घुल मिल जाता है और आदि बाबा का प्रिय भी है।
सभी बच्चे मस्ती से एक के बाद एक खेल खेलने लगे और फिर अंत में जादूगर के कार्यक्रम के लिए शांति से शर्बत का ग्लास लेकर बैठ गए।
बंटी ने सोचा यह सही मौक़ा के ख़ुशबू चोर के बारे में पता लगने का, जहाँ इतने स्वादिष्ट भोजन बने हैं वहाँ कोई ख़ुशबू क्यूँ नहीं आ रही है, बस हवा में इत्र की ख़ुशबू है।
सरला किचन में थालियों में भोजन को सजा रही थी, आचानक बंटी आकार बोला, “माँ कहाँ है वो ख़ुशबू चोर, बता मुझे भी। मैं तो पहचान नहीं पाया“|
सरला बहुत ज़ोर से हँस पड़ी, "ख़ुशबू चोर कोई इंसान नहीं है, तूने सबको शक भारी आँखों से देखा?", यह कह कर अपना दुपट्टा मुँह में दबाए ज़ोर ज़ोर से हँसने लगी।
"माँ, हँसती रहेगी क्या?", बंटी अब थोड़ा झल्लाया क्यूँकि उसने जो सोचा वैसे कुछ नहीं था।
"माँ जल्दी बता फिर वो क्या चीज़ है जो ख़ुशबू चुराती है?, मुझे जादूगर का खेल भी तो देखना है"।
सरला ने बड़े से गैस स्टोव के ऊपर की ओर इशारा करते हुए कहा, “यह रहा तुम्हारा ख़ुशबू चोर जो सारे खाने की ख़ुशबू को चुरा लेता है और किचन के बाहर पता ही नहीं पड़ता कि खाने में क्या बना है"।
"यह क्या है?", बंटी उसकी और देखने लगा, सरला ने उसको गोद मैं उठा कर समझाया कि कैसे धीरे - धीरे या ज़ोरों से यह चीज़ खाने से आने वाली ख़ुशबू चुरा लेती है। इसका नाम चिमनी है।
बंटी अपनी माँ की ओर देख कर अब ज़ोर ज़ोर से हँसने लगा और कहा, "माँ यह तो बड़ी अनोखी चीज़ है, मैंने सोचा हमीद की तरह यहाँ कोई होगा",और सोच सोच कर हँस रहा था कि उसने आदि के सभी दोस्तों को कैसे शक भरी निगाहों से देखा। हँसते - हँसते वो जादू के खेल का आनंद लेने किचन से बहार चला गया।
आज बंटी के मन में शांति थी और आँखों मैं चैन, पर हर घर कहाँ एक जैसा होता है।

एक दम सही कहा. किचन की चिमनी सच में ही खुशबू चोर है. खाना बनाते समय कभी कभी मुझको खुद पर शक होता है की सही मसाले डेल की नहीं! खुशबू घर में घूमने के बजाए सड़क पर मिलती है.
This is so interesting to know about khushboo chor, now along with Bunty even I know that we all have that chor at home.
Now unlike Bunty, we also learned that there is one chor in everyone's house. This is such a simple and sweet story to read to our children at bedtime. Thanks for sharing it.
Haha I loved the way you webbed the whole story around the chimney. When I read the title I was wondering who is this Khushboo chor and when i came to know about chimney it brought a smile on my face. I will read the part one as well to understand the whole story.

Very interesting story!! Chimney is khushbo chor. Remember the time when there was no exhaust fans and chimneys, ghar me jo bhi chhauk lagta tha pure Ghar me uski khushboo hoti thi.

Too bad I'm not able to read this amazing Hindi story for kids but based on reviews, it seems to be a great story to re-tell to children. I hope you continue telling stories in Hindi so your culture lives along!
I have lost the habit of reading content in Hindi and moreover Khushboo chor I was like it’s my name so it was more fun to read this post.
With so much difficulty I finished reading it only because it was totally gripping. Despite Hindi not being my mother tongue I could enjoy every bit of it. I too have a khushboo chor at home
Wow what an amazing story. It's really interesting to know about khushboo chor. It totally true sometimes when I cook and don't get the khushboo of fresh masala, I doubt either I put it or not 😜.

Oh so true.. We all have a chor in our house. Very well penned. I guessed ed it right but was not sure that you are also going in the sane direction .
I also try to write hindi stories but never attempted such light hearted one.. the ending is superb when bunty comes to know who actually is the chimney chor..
